Today Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya held a meeting with the Ambassador of Poland to Belarus Artur Michalski. Since October, the Ambassador has been working outside Belarus because of the demand of the Belarusian authorities to reduce the number of employees of Polish and Lithuanian diplomatic missions.
During the meeting, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya and Mr. Michalski discussed:
– the regime’s pressure on the Polish minority in Belarus and the decision of the Brest Economic Court on liquidation of “Polish School”. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya stated that large-scale repressions of members of the Polish minority are unacceptable;
– support for the International Accountability Platform for Belarus (IAPB) and the possibility of investigating crimes of Lukashenka’s regime under universal jurisdiction;
– assistance to victims of repressions and rehabilitation of Belarusians in Poland;
– meeting with President of Poland Andrzej Duda;
– cooperation with Belarus' neighbors – Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine.
