The meeting focused on the latest developments related to the Wagner PMC presence in Belarus, the deportation of Ukrainian children, as well as ways to hold the Lukashenka regime accountable for crimes against humanity. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya also conveyed the position of the Belarusians concerning the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus, which is that Belarus must not be turned into a firing range.
Speaker Ó Fearghaíl noted that since the last meeting in Dublin two months ago, during Ms. Tsikhanouskaya's official visit to Ireland, several initiatives have been implemented.
- First, a group of Friends of Democratic Belarus has been established, led by the head of Ireland's Labour Party, Ivana Bacik. The group already unites 11 senators and members of the lower house of Parliament.
- Second, the speaker noted that Irish MPs will continue taking patronage over political prisoners.
- Third, he confirmed that the Irish Parliament may hold hearings and adopt a resolution on Belarus.
