Kristina Rikhter, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Advisor on Legal Affairs, commented on the new criminal case against Zmitser Dashkevich:
“Today was supposed to be the day of release for activist Zmitser Dashkevich, the former leader of the “Young Front”, a father of four children, and a most decent person. But he never got out as a new criminal case was initiated against him under Article 411 of the Criminal Code for “malicious disobedience to the demands of the administration of the correctional institution”. This article can easily be invoked after a few disciplinary offenses such as an unfastened button or hands in pockets.
He never left the prison because someone, from their comfortable office, decided to separate him from his wife and children for several more years. They decided that Zmitser has not had enough groundless imprisonment in conditions that can only be described as inhumane.
Zmitser is our Homeland’s true hero. Resolute, uncompromising, and very courageous, he shows us his love for the Homeland and faith in God through his actions and his entire life.
Some people from some offices destroy our lives and steal the time that we could spend with our loved ones. And they naively believe we will never know their names. We will”.
