Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “On this day exactly one year ago, Pavel “Volat” Suslau, commander of the Kastus Kalinouski regiment, was killed. It hurts to commemorate such dates but it is a date of remembrance. We must remember and honor our heroes. And Pavel Suslau is certainly a hero. I have seen the video filmed by Pavel's brothers and I know people who fought alongside him. They all said that Pavel “Volat” is a true leader, a warrior, and a patriot of Belarus, who will always come to the rescue. It's the example of people like Pavel that gives all of us the strength to fight.
It is hard for me to imagine the pain of loss experienced by Natallia, Pavel's mother. A heroic woman who, after her son's death, joined the Kastus Kalinouski regiment and continued his cause. We cannot bring her son back, but we can help Ukraine win this war and then liberate our Belarus. Each of us can contribute to our common cause.
The Kastus Kalinouski regiment has already named a battalion after Pavel. But a free Belarus should also immortalize heroes like him the way they deserve.”
