Yesterday, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and a delegation of the United Transitional Cabinet visited Boston. They visited Harvard University, took part in the opening of the European Conference, met with the President of the European Parliament, attended a ceremony of raising the Belarusian flag, and met with the Belarusian diaspora.
The major issues discussed during meetings and speeches were:
– A Belarusian program at Harvard, as well as scholarships for Belarusian students and researchers. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya suggested that one of these scholarships be named after Ales Bialiatski.
– The Marshall Plan. During her speech at the conference, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya recalled that the Marshall Plan concept was partially conceived and developed at Harvard University. And today, a new Marshall Plan is needed for Belarus.
– Accountability for the regime. At the bilateral meeting, Roberta Metsola and the Belarusian leader discussed the implementation of the European Parliament's resolution, holding the regime accountable through the International Criminal Court, and universal jurisdiction cases.
– Collaboration with tech companies. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya noted these companies should block regime propaganda, assist independent media, and collaborate with Belarus’ democratic forces.
