Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with Minister Hadja Lahbib in the building where the main program of the Summit was held. The meeting took place immediately after the women’s event, which was attended by 16 foreign and defense ministers, the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and the Speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament.
The meeting with the Belgian Foreign Minister focused on:
- Belgium's presidency of the European Union, which begins in six months. The Minister assured Ms. Tsikhanouskaya that Belarus will remain on the agenda. Joint events were discussed.
- Support for the work of the Mission of Democratic Belarus in Brussels. The Belarusian leader thanked the Minister for participating in the Mission's events.
- A new sanctions package against Lukashenka's accomplices and government and security officials, which is currently being discussed in the European Union.
- Unacceptability of easing sanctions in exchange for the transit of potash fertilizers through the EU countries, as well as the need to close the loopholes in the current sanctions.
