During his visit to Strasbourg, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Advisor on Parliamentary Cooperation and Constitutional Reform, Anatoli Liabedzka, met with members of the European Parliament. Among them were Juozas Olekas, Anna Fotyga, Rasa Juknevičienė, Miriam Lexmann, Arba Kokalari, Andrius Kubilius, Ilhan Kyuchyuk, Petras Auštrevičius, Sandra Kalniete, and Vlad Marius Botoş.
At the meetings with the MEPs, the creation of parliamentary groups “For a Democratic Belarus” in the national parliaments of Bulgaria, Romania, and Slovakia was discussed, as well as the possibilities and mechanisms of support for Belarusian political prisoners.
Besides, the discussions focused on the Belarusian agenda in the pre-election campaign to the European Parliament. It includes the participation of Belarusian volunteers in the EP activities and the written commitments of candidates to address the topics of political prisoners and the European perspective for Belarus.
