  • Belarus–US Strategic Dialogue was launched in Washington

    December 06, 2023

In Washington, Belarus’ democratic forces and U.S. politicians started two days of talks within the framework of the Belarus–U.S. Strategic Dialogue. They will discuss in detail issues related to defending Belarus’s sovereignty, achieving the release of and providing support to political prisoners, as well as holding Lukashenka and his accomplices accountable.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya spoke on her expectations from the Belarus–US Strategic Dialogue:

“We expect a clear strategy and roadmap as a result of the Dialogue, as well as specific projects that will help restore democracy in Belarus, free political prisoners, and preserve Belarus’ independence.

We expect clear communication from the U.S. that Belarus will not be left as a consolation prize to Putin, that Belarus can count on support for economic recovery, and that the USA will support the European perspective for Belarus”.

Before the meeting, the Belarusian leader had a conversation with the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Victoria Nuland, who expressed hope that the talks in Washington will help develop steps towards closer cooperation between the democratic forces of Belarus and the U.S.
