  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Every European politician should see this exhibition”

    November 21, 2023

Today, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya attended the opening of the “Belarusian Martyrology” exhibition in Vilnius. It features a series of portraits of Belarusian political prisoners by artist Xisha Aniolava, who presented the exhibition at the European Parliament in Strasbourg earlier this fall.

The series includes more than 600 paintings. Unfortunately, the number of political prisoners in Belarus increases every day. That is why the creator will continue to create artworks until every person unjustly held in prison is released.

“It is painful to look at all these portraits. I personally know many of these people. I cannot imagine how difficult it is for them now, both physically and psychologically. But I do know that they count on us. The issue of political prisoners must be heard every day – at international forums, high-level meetings, and in the media”, noted Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya at the opening of the exhibition.

This Saturday, November 25, at 4:00 pm at Xisha Aniolava’s exhibition, a performance “Belarusian Political Prisoners Speak” will take place, with readings of texts written by Belarusian heroes. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya invites everyone to attend the event.
