Today, May 28, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with a delegation of US Representatives. The delegation was headed by President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Gerald Connolly.
The meeting was attended, in particular, by NATO Parliamentary Assembly Secretary Collin Davenport, one of the leaders of the Congressional Friends of Belarus Caucus in the US Joe Wilson, and US Special Envoy Julie Fisher.
They discussed security issues in the region and the role of Belarus, assistance to Belarusian civil society, as well as to Belarusian military volunteers in Ukraine. In addition, they talked about the ICAO report and further steps by the US and ICAO in investigating this incident and in bringing those responsible to justice. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya stressed that there must be no impunity, that the criminals must be punished.
The war in Ukraine relegated many issues to the background, people forgot about the migration crisis orchestrated by the Lukashenka regime, the hijacking of a Ryanair jetliner, and the fact that it was these actions that caused the imposition of sanctions. The world must not forget what the regime has done and continues to do to Belarusians.
