    August 29, 2021

The Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya launched a solidarity platform, belarusplatform.org. The platform gathers verified initiatives that help the protest movement. Anyone can support these initiatives.

Belarusian democratic forces have launched belarusmadeachoice.org platform, which presents the outcomes of peaceful fight of Belarusians for freedom since August 2020 – assistance initiatives, mobilization projects, international policy, work of the Belarusian diaspora, etc.

    – Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya congratulated Belarusians on the 30th anniversary of Belarus’ independence: “Thousands of Belarus' patriots sacrificed themselves for the dream to see our homeland free. In the past, these were victims of GULAG and NKVD. Today, these are peaceful protesters and political prisoners. We need to remember our history to make sure that no autocrat can rewrite it”.

    – Ms. Tsikhanouskaya Representative on Economics Ales Aliakhnovich explained the plans of the democratic forces after the allocation of more than $900 million of IMF funds to Belarus: “The fact that SDRs have been allocated by the IMF does not mean that the regime will be able to use them”.

    – Ms. Tsikhanouskaya Representative on Legal Affairs Siarhej Zikratski appealed to the Investigative Committee of Belarus, which had refused to open a criminal case on torture by security forces, and said that all perpetrators would face a fair trial: “Torture is punishable by a prison term of 7 to 25 years, or life imprisonment, or even death penalty”

    – “Here we can boldly call it genocide”: Siarhej Zikratski and Valery Kavaleuski have assessed, from a legal perspective, the videos published by Cyberpartisans initiative in which Belarus’ siloviki confess to the crimes they have committed.

    – Valery Kavaleuski, Head of Tsikhanouskaya’s Cabinet of Representatives, held a call with volunteers of the Office. He told about the fully formed position of Europe and the US on supporting Belarus, about China's dissatisfaction with Lukashenka's actions, and the dependence and fear of the latter on the Kremlin. He also told the volunteers about the plans of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to make new official visits, including to post-Soviet countries.

    – Volunteers of Ms. Tsikhanouskaya’s Office sent 1000 postcards to political prisoners. The Volnyia Pashtouki project now has T-shirts with drawings of political prisoners. Funds raised from these T-shirts to support vkletochku.org, a project helping to send letters to imprisoned Belarusians.

    – The “Spotlight of the Regions” project has new flyers which Belarusians can download and share in their regions. The flyers at this link will be updated weekly. Belarusians can share all corruption cases, administrative arbitrariness, non-payments, bankruptcy of enterprises, and the situation in their region.

    – Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and her Representative on Education Olga Shapraga – commented on planned innovations in schools and universities, involving additional lessons on “spirituality and patriotism” and lessons in which children will discuss the concept of “national unity” and state symbols with teachers: “The regime does not hide the aim of all these innovations – they want to make teachers into a pillar of state policy and violence”.

    – Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, in interviews for Belarusian and international media, spoke about the current stage of the Belarusian freedom movement: Doorbraak (Belgium), Euronews, movie TUT.BY/zerkalo.io 16 August 2020: What Happened After, ABC (Australia).
