The Mission of Democratic Belarus in Ukraine has been officially opened in Kyiv.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Head of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, and representatives of the Cabinet, the Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, and the Coordination Council.
Representing the Ukrainian side at the opening were officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the Deputy Foreign Minister, Yevhen Perebyinis, as well as other officials and friends of democratic Belarus.
The opening of the Democratic Belarus Mission is an important step toward more systematic cooperation between Ukraine and the democratic forces of Belarus. It will help maintain contacts with Ukrainian institutions, work on issues concerning Belarusians in Ukraine, develop joint initiatives, and strengthen Belarusian–Ukrainian dialogue. The Head of the Mission, Sviatlana Shatilina, will represent the democratic forces of Belarus in Ukraine.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “We must do more to help Ukraine in every way we can: politically, informationally, through support for Belarusian volunteers and fighters, through cooperation with Ukrainian institutions, and through engagement with Belarusians living in Ukraine.
This Mission has been opened so that this work can become more consistent and visible. So that Belarusians in Ukraine know where they can turn for support. So that Ukrainian partners see whom they can work with. So that our cooperation is built not only on individual contacts but also has a permanent platform.
We once again thank everyone who helped make this Mission possible and everyone who continues to support the Belarusian democratic community in Ukraine”.
