Representatives of the democratic forces of Belarus took part in events dedicated to Lithuania’s Day of the Defenders of Freedom. On January 10, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Diplomatic Advisor, Dzianis Kuchynski, and Advisor on Parliamentary Cooperation, Anatoli Liabedzka, joined a solidarity run from Antakalnis Cemetery to the Vilnius TV Tower.
Thousands of Lithuanians participated in the run, along with government officials and diplomats, including the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys. The participation of Belarusians was a sign of solidarity and respect for the memory of the victims of Soviet aggression, as well as a reminder of the shared struggle for freedom.
Dzianis Kuchynski: “Lithuania remains an example for Belarus that even after harsh imperial pressure, freedom and democracy inevitably prevail. Belarus today is still under the rule of an occupying regime, but Lithuania’s path to independence gives hope and confidence in a future victory.
No dictatorship and no empire are eternal. As it happened in Lithuania, it will surely happen in Belarus as well”.
