  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot

    October 08, 2025

    Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya held a meeting with the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, in Paris today, with Siarhei Tsikhanouski also joining the meeting.

    The parties discussed:

    • France’s policy toward Belarus and the security situation in the region;
    • steps toward the release of political prisoners in Belarus;
    • support for independent media;
    • expanded visa issuance for Belarusians.

    Ms. Tsikhanouskaya emphasized: “I am grateful to France for its consistent support of the Belarusian people, the work of the Special Representative on Belarus, and the continued attention to our country’s fate. I would also like to express special thanks for the visa support – maintaining mobility is crucial for those who remain in Belarus. I called on the Minister to expand visa opportunities, as this allows Belarusians to stay connected with Europe and to feel part of the free world”.

    Following the meeting, a formal reception was held on the occasion of the third meeting of the Alliance of Parliamentary Groups “For Democratic Belarus,” attended by international members of the Alliance, MPs, representatives of Belarusian civil society, and members of the United Transitional Cabinet – Pavel Latushka, Alisa Ryzhychenka, and Vladzimir Astapenka.
