During her visit to Poland, where she is taking part in the Warsaw Security Forum, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski.
The discussions focused on:
- Belarusian community centers in the Polish capital;
- potential Polish–Belarusian sports and cultural initiatives;
- initiatives within the Pact of Free Cities, which unites Warsaw, Budapest, Bratislava, and Prague;
- Belarusian-language versions of Warsaw’s websites and other city materials as a symbolic step to support Belarusian culture and identity.
Ms. Tsikhanouskaya thanked Mayor Trzaskowski for supporting Belarusian NGOs and initiatives, including shelters for repressed individuals and former political prisoners. She underscored the possibility that more people will need to be hosted in the near future and appealed for comprehensive support.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya was accompanied at the meeting by her husband, Siarhei Tsikhanouski, recently released from prison thanks to efforts by US President Donald Trump.
