The Francysk Skaryna Medal is awarded for contributions to the development of Belarusian science, education, and culture. In the case of Lavon Volski, it is a recognition of his decades-long work, through which his music has become an integral part of Belarus’s musical life.
The Belarusian leader thanked the musician for his influence on shaping Belarusian identity and self-awareness.
