Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya visited Gdańsk, Poland, on a working trip, meeting with the Belarusian diaspora. She had an open conversation with almost a hundred guests, listening to people’s requests and proposals and taking note of the issues that concern them to promote their resolution in future meetings with Polish authorities.
Ms. Tsikhanouskaya also answered Belarusians’ questions, called for dialogue within the Belarusian community in Poland, and praised the civic and cultural activism of Belarusians in Gdańsk:
“After official meetings, conferences, and interviews, such informal and heartfelt gatherings are truly inspiring and energizing. Especially when the conversation is with such an active and large diaspora as yours. I regret that I can’t visit more often but I cherish every opportunity.
It seems that the best source of physical and spiritual strength is the people you know, fellow Belarusians. So we need to meet more often, support each other, and discuss the painful issues. Let me invite you to involve all Belarusians in your region in Belarusian matters. And also, work with local politicians and media to keep Belarus on the agenda”.
