Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya took part in the Congress of the Party of European Socialists in Malaga, Spain, where she addressed heads of state and government, political leaders, and activists from all over Europe.
The leader emphasized the role of Belarusian social democrats in defending the independence of their country:
“In this hall, we have representatives of Belarusian social democrats of “Hramada” and “Narodnaya Hramada”. Despite political crackdown and arrests of their leaders, these courageous people didn’t give up and continue to fight for free Belarus”.
The Belarusian leader reminded participants about Belarusians’ European choice and expressed support for neighboring countries’ steps on the path to a European future:
“Without Belarus, Ukraine, or Moldova – the European project will never be finished. European Union – from Malaga to Minsk, from Lisbon to Tbilisi. For us, it is not just a dream. It is the goal.
Our goal is to build a country where the government serves the people, not vice versa.
Our goal is to return Belarus to democracy. Because under tyranny, there are no independent trade unions. No climate awareness. No LGBTQ rights. No gender equality. And, of course, no elections”.
As a highlight of her speech, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya called on the participants of the Congress to join the Day of Solidarity with Belarus on November 12.
