Today, November 17, Belarus and the world celebrate Student Day. On this occasion, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Adviser on Youth Policy and Students, Marharyta Vorykhava, recorded a video addressing Belarusian students:
“I have been fortunate to work with Belarusian youth – and I am confident that each of you deserves better. Better education, relevant knowledge, and outstanding teachers.
Unfortunately, the Lukashenka regime is not concerned with supporting creative and independent young Belarusians. Instead, it deprives you of voting rights, closes borders, and limits opportunities for you to use your potential. The regime is trying by all means to keep the youth from leaving the country. But at the same time, everything it does becomes a reason for talented women and men to seek education abroad.
Dear students, your enthusiasm and determination are the driving forces in the fight for democracy in Belarus. You are not just leaders of tomorrow – you are catalysts of change today. Keep learning, gain experience, strengthen your voice, and stand up for the principles you respect. You are the future of new Belarus”.
