Yesterday, July 14, at the Ryanair headquarters in Dublin, CEO Michael O'Leary received Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. Mr. O'leary explained that the company was conducting its own investigation into the hijacking of the aircraft, handed over the investigation report to Ms. Tsikhanouskaya which reported that the company was working with ICAO, Poland, Lithuania and Greece to collect material and evidence.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya thanked Director O'Leary for her principled position and offered to support the filing of an international lawsuit against the Lukashenka regime for the hijacking of the aircraft, which was an act of air terrorism.
Ms. Tsikhanouskaya and Mr. O'Leary discussed how the incident affected the company and the global air transport industry. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya stressed that the regime set a very dangerous precedent, and together with Mr. O'Leary, they agreed to do everything possible to ensure that law and security returned to both international air space and Belarus.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said that it is very important for the Belarusians to restore the opportunities denied them by the regime and to open new ones. Therefore, Mr.O'Leary agreed to consider Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's proposal to bring Ryanair to Minsk and the Belarusian regions after the victory of democracy.
