Last week, Roberta Metsola visited Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office in Vilnius. During the meeting, the President of the European Parliament pledged to become a symbolic godparent for one of the Belarusian political prisoners. Today, Roberta Metsola announced that she became the godmother for Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Roberta’s today’s announcement is another proof that we are not alone in our struggle.
When one of our international partners becomes a godparent for just one of our heroes, my heart fills with warmth. Because I see: we have one more powerful voice reminding the whole world about our heroes.
I believe what scares political prisoners in Belarus is that some day they might feel that everyone has forgotten about them. With every step we take, we must remind them that we remember them and keep working for their release”.
