Denis Ivashin is a journalist who investigated the move of former Ukrainian “Berkutov” and their service in the Belarusian OMON. Denis was detained just the day after he told the media about his investigation.
Can you imagine being afraid of free speech to get a perfectly healthy person into serious heart problems? Just like Vitold Ashurok, who died in prison when he was completely healthy before he was imprisoned.
How is it necessary to fear the truth to send to the colony where Vitold was, the so-called check, which “found no violations” and did not show prisoners lying in punishment cells with life-threatening injuries and illnesses – as Denis?
How do you have to be afraid of peaceful Belarusians to keep 16 people in 4–seat cells? To take hostages and record propaganda videos with them.
All of the regime’s recent actions demonstrate its lack of control over the people of Belarus and its impotence before the international community. Therefore, we must act even more actively: for the sake of our past – the memory of Vitold Ashurk and all who we have lost; for the sake of our present – the freedom of Denis Ivashin and all the innocent; and for the sake of our future – the return of the law and the new honest elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus”.
