“First, doctors were sent to the front line. Almost all the help to each other was provided by Belarusians, not the government. The regime chose to reward law enforcement officials instead of providing medics with PPE.
Then, doctors were required to stay “loyal and reliable”. In the eyes of the criminal group, that seized the power, loyalty and reliability is lack of empathy to Belarusians, whom they tortured.
After it, doctors were required to stay silent. Otherwise, they were detained and sentenced to days of arrest.
Now, doctors are being dismissed. The country is struggling with COVID, but the regime easily lets the best specialists go.
Doctors’ patience has run out. They demand to stop the violence, free political prisoners and hold new elections. Otherwise, they will start to resign or continue their protest in any possible way.
And when the regime will state again that “doctors are out of politics”, let’s remind them that tortures, falsifications and repressions against doctors are also not politics. And the support of medics’ community is the question of our common future”.
