Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Today we all heard that a Belarusian volunteer, Eduard Lobau, died in the war in Ukraine. He was really an outstanding Belarusian. He defended Belarus, which was the reason why the regime made him a political prisoner back in 2010. He served his entire term in one of the worst prisons in Belarus – the Vouchy Nory colony in Ivatsevichy. It took Eduard 4 years to be released, as he refused to appeal for pardon.
Since 2015, the former political prisoner has been defending Ukraine from Russian invaders. This war kills Belarusians who could otherwise have lived to make our country better. All because the criminal regimes decided so.
We will not forget Eduard Lobau. He will forever be in our hearts”.
