  • Austrian Foreign Minister offered to transfer evidence of the Lukashenka regime’s crimes to The Hague

    June 06, 2023

Yesterday Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.

She handed the minister the report by the National Anti-Crisis Management on the involvement of the Lukashenka regime and companies related to Belaruskali in the displacement of Ukrainian children from the occupied territories. The minister offered to refer the evidence to the International Criminal Court for investigation.

They separately discussed the situation with the stationing of nuclear weapons in Belarus. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya stressed that it is absolutely inadmissible; most Belarusians are aware that the stationing of weapons is illegal and can lead both to the complete loss of independence and to the possible extension of hostilities into the Belarusian territory.

A new package of sanctions by the European Union was discussed too. Ms. Tsikhanouskayaya suggested expanding the sanctions list to include judges, prosecutors, and security officials involved in repressions.
