This is the third meeting between Polish Sejm Marshal Elżbieta Witek and Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. United Transitional Cabinet representatives Pavel Latushka, Alina Koushyk, Valery Kavaleuski, Aliaksandr Azarau, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya's Chief Advisor Franak Viacorka and Advisor for Interparliamentary Cooperation Anatoli Liabiedzka joined the meeting along with Ms. Tsikhanouskaya.
The Speaker assured Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya of Poland’s unequivocal support for the democratic movement in Belarus, noting that Poland is interested in seeing Belarus as a democratic and independent country.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya spoke about the work of the United Transitional Cabinet to prevent the potential deployment of Belarusian troops in the war, and solve the issues Belarusians face in other countries after fleeing repression in Belarus. The parties discussed the need to work with third countries, which are unaware of the situation in Belarus and Ukraine and still vote in international organizations like the UN.
Ms. Tsikhanouskaya also urged the Sejm to adopt a resolution on Belarus outlining the strategic principles in the policy towards Belarus: distinguishing between the Lukashenka regime and the people, demanding the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Belarusian territory, and bringing the perpetrators of repression to justice.
