August 9, 2020, was the day Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya won the election in Belarus, and protests against dictator Lukashenka started. On that day, Belarusians made a choice to live in a free country where everyone is respected and treasured and has the right to express themselves. That day brought together hundreds of thousands of Belarusians, and we are still committed to that choice.
On August 9, 2023, the 3rd anniversary of rigged elections in Belarus, Belarusians invite you to join the International Day of Solidarity with Belarus. While Belarusians in Belarus and abroad will be holding rallies, waving flags and supporting political prisoners, as a foreigner, you can:
- Organize public, virtual, or offline events on Belarus, discussing possible solutions to the crisis and what the international community can do.
- Make statements or resolutions about Belarus and help to raise awareness.
- Launch media, offline and online campaigns informing about the situation in Belarus.
- Support Belarusian volunteer fighters in Ukraine.
- Help political prisoners and their families.
There are a lot more ways to show solidarity with Belarus. To find out more, visit the website: https://standwithbelarus.org/
