Yesterday, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya spoke at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) session, where she called on PACE members to vote in favor of the resolution on practical support for Belarusians in exile. She emphasized the importance of the recommendations of the resolution being reflected at the national level in individual countries.
Ms. Tsikhanouskaya’s address was followed by a performance by Volny Chor (Free Choir), who sang “Pahonia” and “Zhyve Belarus!”
An overwhelming majority of the MPs voted in favor of the resolution addressing the issues faced by Belarusians in exile. The resolution draft was prepared based on the report by Luxembourg MP Paul Galles.
The resolution emphasizes the need to eliminate administrative and legal obstacles for Belarusians in exile and ensure an adequate level of protection for these individuals. It also proposes issuing humanitarian visas at all embassies and consulates that continue to operate in Minsk.
