  • Volunteers of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office launched the “Spotlight of the Regions” initiative

    April 03, 2021

    Volunteers of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office launched a Telegram chatbot @bel2020_bot to collect as much information about real life in the regions of Belarus. Belarusians can send any information related to their town or village. It can be anything they consider important, for instance:
    – experiencing mass layoffs at your workplace;
    – information about an enterprise operating at a loss or altogether closed down;
    – information about someone fired for political reasons;
    – examples of corruption.

    The Office collects and verifies information so that Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and other leaders of democratic forces, media, bloggers, distributors of samizdat and leaflets can share it. As many people as possible should learn about real life in the regions of Belarus.

    Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “You have already seen the collective power of publicity and solidarity. When the head of the Minsk Dairy Plant No.1 wanted to put the responsibility on the factory workers, and the workers publicly spoke about it and resigned together. The result is that the factory head was suspended, and the workers were asked to return to the factory.

    That's what happens when people are united. You need to speak the truth as loud as you can. We often get news from Minsk, but it is very important for us to know what is happening in the regions. My husband, Siarhei Tsikhanouski, began to talk about real life in different parts of Belarus. Thanks to this, Belarusians saw how similar our problems are and how we are solving them in solidarity.

    That is why I support Spotlight of the Regions as well as any initiative that helps us learn more about each other and see that we all want the same thing: to peacefully resolve the crisis.

    Send information to the bot @bel2020_bot and tell everyone who lives outside the Minsk about it!”.
