    Belarus’s European Choice

    Belarus’s European choice is a commitment to a free, democratic, and sovereign Belarus that shares the values of the European Union and is preparing for full participation in the European community.

    This section brings together positions explaining why European integration serves the interests of the Belarusian people and strengthens the country’s independence. It outlines approaches to cooperation with the EU, alignment of legislation and standards, the expansion of exchanges, and the implementation of reforms needed for Belarus’s future accession to the European Union.

    Declaration on Belarus’s Membership in the European Union

    This declaration, adopted at the New Belarus Conference 2023, affirms the democratic forces’ commitment to Belarus’s full membership in the European Union and links this choice to democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. It calls on the EU to expand its support for Belarusian society, independent media, and victims of repression; promote cultural, educational, and economic exchanges; jointly prepare reforms; convene a high-level conference; recognize the New Belarusian Passport; and move toward visa-free travel.

    Resolution on Belarus’s European Choice and the Preparation of an EU Integration Roadmap

    This resolution, adopted at the New Belarus Conference 2023, reaffirms that Belarus’s future lies with the European Union and is rooted in democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. The democratic forces announce the launch of preparations for a roadmap for integration with the EU and the Council of Europe. The resolution calls for expanding cooperation with European institutions, parliaments, and societies; strengthening academic, cultural, and information exchanges; reducing visa barriers; and creating opportunities for Belarusians to participate in European mobility programs.
