  • Study visit to Tallinn for independent Belarusian media

    May 21, 2026

The Representation of Democratic Belarus in Estonia has organized a study visit to Tallinn for journalists of Belarusian independent media. The visit is supported by the Estonian Center for International Development, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Journalists for Human Rights.

Vitaly Malchanau, who heads the Representation, speaks about the event:

    • Representatives of 12 repressed media outlets are taking part in the visit.
    • The program focuses on the resilience of independent media, cybersecurity, countering disinformation, and cooperation with European institutions.
    • The event also includes training sessions on digital security and media work in the context of hybrid threats, based on Ukraine’s experience.

Vitaly Malchanau: “As part of the visit, media representatives are meeting with Estonian state institutions, parliament, the expert community, and colleagues from Estonia’s leading media outlets.

Such visits provide a platform for exchanging experience, strengthening professional contacts, and discussing mechanisms to support independent journalism as it faces repression in Belarus”.
