  • An event took place in Vilnius for the Night of (Un)Executed Poets

    October 30, 2025

An event titled “(Un)Executed Poets” took place in Vilnius to commemorate Belarusian cultural figures who perished during Stalin’s repressions in 1937.

The Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya was represented by her Advisor on Education and Science, Pavel Tereshkovich. He addressed the participants, sharing historical facts about the Black Night and reflecting on its relevance today:

“The saddest thing is that the ideological heirs of those who tortured people in the 1930s still rule in Minsk. It is no coincidence that the latest history textbook doesn’t contain even a few sentences about what happened in the 1930s”.

Participants read poems by the executed poets, honoring their memory.

This day reminds Belarusians of the importance of historical memory and respect for those who built our culture, literature, and history. Their works remain a vital part of our identity and a testament to the enduring power of the Belarusian word.

The event was supported by the Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.
