Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will visit the United States from September 22 to 27. During her visit, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya will participate in the high-level week of the 79th UN General Assembly, meeting with global leaders, representatives of international organizations, and the Belarusian diaspora in the US.
The discussions will focus primarily on international support for Belarus’ democratic movement. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya is scheduled to attend key events organized by the Atlantic Council, Clinton Global Initiative, and the Belarus Free Theatre.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “During this visit, I will speak out for our political prisoners and emphasize the urgent need for a decisive strategy to secure their release. I will address the grave threat to Belarus’ independence, demanding the immediate withdrawal of Russian troops and nuclear weapons from our soil. I will call for justice, holding accountable those who have unlawfully seized and continue to hold power in Belarus. I will also highlight the plight of Belarusians forced into exile due to brutal repression.
Now, more than ever, Belarus needs the unwavering solidarity of the international community. We know we have many friends and allies around the world who stand ready to help us in our just and difficult fight for freedom. I am traveling to the US to ensure that the voice of free Belarus is heard—loud and clear. The time for strong, decisive action is now”.
