During the European Political Community Summit, the Belarusian leader met with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
Their discussion focused on aid for political prisoners in Belarus and efforts to achieve their release. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya urged Mr. Macron to emphasize this issue and help free the political prisoners whose situation is becoming increasingly critical.
The Belarusian leader also informed Mr. Macron about the political situation in Belarus and emphasized that the Lukashenka regime and Russia continue to involve Belarus in the war against Ukraine.
At the end of the meeting, the leader thanked France for appointing a special envoy for Belarus and for supporting Belarus’ civil society. Both parties agreed to continue consultations at a working level.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “I am truly grateful to France for its stance on Belarus. The country issues visas and supports Belarusians and the democratic forces on the international stage. We would like more active cooperation, and we need President Macron’s help, especially in the matter of freeing the political prisoners. We will fight for each one every one of them”.
