Nancy Pelosi and Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya participated in the morning show “Morning Joe” on MSNBC. During the conversation, the politicians discussed the problem of dictatorships and how they are on the rise worldwide. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya also emphasized the importance of democratic Belarus’ cooperation with NATO and why this alliance is a bulwark against tyranny.
📎 “We need not only a military but also a political alliance. And we certainly need to promote this alliance among Belarusians. For many years, we were told that NATO is a threat to our countries. We must explain that it is an alliance of democratic countries seeking global peace and security”.
📎 “Dictators learn very quickly from one another. And believe me, they will not stop. You cannot appease or re-educate dictators, you can only fight them”.
📎 “We appeal to NATO countries as people fighting against dictatorship and atrocities in our country and against Russia’s imperial ambitions. We need unity and resolve because dictators aim to split the democratic world. Dictators perceive indecision as weakness. They cross red line after red line, wondering when the strong democratic world will respond”.
📎 “It is such a luxurious opportunity to elect the future president in a fair election, because today marks 30 years since Lukashenka came to power in Belarus. For 30 years, there has been no intrigue about who will be the next president of the country”.
