Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Advisor on Economic Reforms and the Vice President of Association of Belarusian Businesses Abroad (ABBA), Aleś Alachnovič, spoke on Euroradio about the democratic forces’ participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos and its significance:
“Firstly, our participation shows Belarusians that despite what the regime says, Belarusians have the support of the international community. That we are capable of promoting and defending the interests of democratic Belarus at any time. Secondly, we are here to reach out to our international partners and show that there is an alternative Belarus for which we are fighting. Thirdly, we are establishing and expanding contacts with international partners. Each visit like this contributes to our collective capital. This capital is our partners’ understanding that Belarus is distinct from Russia, with many educated individuals looking towards Belarus’ future, proud of their country, and with a clear vision of what they will do post-Lukashenka.”
Mr. Alachnovič also emphasized the significance of having representatives from Belarus’ democratic movement present at such international events.
