During his visit to Kyiv, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Advisor for the Constitutional Reform and Interparliamentary Cooperation, Anatoli Liabedzka, met with the Advisor to the Head of the Office of President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak. Today, the politicians held a joint live stream on YouTube to discuss the future of Belarus–Ukraine relations, the situation in Belarus, as well as legal issues faced by Belarusians in Ukraine.
Mr. Podolyak noted that Ukraine at no level of government views Lukashenka as an independent politician. “We do not see him as a politician who has anything to offer to Belarus. He holds Belarus hostage — this cannot be doubted, especially after 2020,” said the Ukrainian politician.
He mentioned that President Zelenskyy has openly expressed his belief that the fall of the regime in Russia will commence an era of political transformation in Belarus.
Mykhailo Podolyak also stressed that the legal issues faced in Ukraine by Belarusians, including the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment warriors as well as other civil and military volunteers, cannot be fully resolved now. But the government works to find solutions, and an informal group will be formed to respond to crises.
