Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with the Prime Minister of Sweden Stefan Löfven. They have discussed the events at Belaruskali and Hrodna Azot. Löfven is one of the leaders of Europe’s trade union movement, he has been to Belarus several times and cooperated with local trade unions. It is crucial for him to support the striking ones.
Sviatlana told about the situation with water and heating cut-offs in Novaya Baravaya. She called it state terror and called on Sweden to react to crimes against humanity and impose new sanctions. Tsikhanouskaya and Löfven also discussed the murder of Roman Bondarenko, destruction of the memorial in his honor and a possible role of ambassadors of diplomatic missions, who remain in Belarus, and how they may help to prevent such acts of the regime.
As Löfven is a big hockey fan, it is a matter of honour for him to take up the issue of cancelation or moving the World Ice Hockey Championship from Minsk.
Löfven expressed his admiration to the persistence of Belarusian people and met Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya as a national leader.
