Conference of the Belarusian diaspora. The second Conference of the Belarusian diaspora for organizations, communities, and initiatives of Belarusians abroad will take place in Vilnius on April 22-23, initiated by Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. The Office’s Diaspora coordinator, Daniil Garkavy, shared more details about the Conference.
Belarus-Lithuania. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with Lithuania's Minister of the Interior Agnė Bilotaitė, while representatives of the Office held meetings with Lithuanian Seimas and Foreign Ministry members. The discussions focused on the recent draft law in response to the Ukraine war to ensure it does not harm honest Belarusians. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Advisor on Legal Affairs Kristina Rikhter explained possible implications for Belarusians. At the meeting with the Lithuanian Minister of the Interior, they agreed to establish a working group on migration and security issues.
Networking with political parties. On April 3, representatives of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's office met with leaders of nine political parties and organizations. They discussed preparations for April 26, the anniversary of the Chornobyl accident, cooperation within the PACE, and a statement on preventing the stationing of nuclear weapons in Belarus.
Belarus-Moldova. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with the President of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Grosu and proposed mutual support on all international platforms (UN, OSCE, Council of Europe). Ms. Tsikhanouskaya also urged Mr. Gorsu to include democratic Belarus on the agenda of the European Political Community summit, which will take place in Chisinau on June 1.
Coordination meeting. Representatives of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Office, the United Transitional Cabinet, and the Coordination Council held consultations in Vilnius. They discussed strategic priorities, the situation with political prisoners, and international activities.
Belarus-Estonia. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with Estonia's Special Envoy Marko Koplimaa. They discussed steps to hold accomplices of the regime accountable through international organizations, resolving issues of the Belarusian diaspora in Estonia, and opening a representative office of democratic Belarus in Tallinn.
Relations with the US. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with American diplomats of the Belarus Watchers group who address the Belarusian agenda in various countries and international organizations on a regular basis. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya made a statement on Belarusian-American relations, which will receive a new impulse within the framework of the Strategic Dialogue announced during her visit to Washington.
Conversations with Belarusians. On Friday, April 7, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya held weekly personal conversations with Belarusians. They are held every week and every Belarusian can sign up for them.
Volunteers of the Office. Office volunteers had a call with the Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet, Valery Kavaleuski. During the meeting, he talked about the Western response to the stationing of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus and the democratic forces’ continued work with Ukrainian politicians.
