The Belarusian leader began her visit to Germany with a speech at the Munich Cyber Security Conference, which brings together more than 700 experts, politicians, and representatives of the technology sector. The conference is supported by Google, TikTok, Amazon, Lenovo, Meta, Airbus, and other corporations.
During her speech, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya spoke about the role of technology in the events of 2020 in Belarus and addressed the tech companies present at the conference, calling them to support the Belarusian civil society and media.
The Belarusian leader emphasized that dictators are finding ways to use technology to persecute political opponents. As evidence, she talked about the repression in Belarus for online activities, and attempts by Russia and the Lukashenka regime to deprive people of access to truthful information. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya also stressed that despite this, Belarusians still do not support the regime and oppose the war against Ukraine.
