Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus' regime.
Here is an overview of the Movement on June 2.
Support for Belarusians and Ukrainians
- Belarusians have been volunteering to help Ukrainians since the war started. The new video, released as part of the #BelarusWithUkraine campaign, tells about the Belarusian volunteers at the Warsaw railway station, where refugees arrive.
- Belarusians of Czechia donated drawing books, colored pencils, felt-tip pens, paints, balls, and toys to Ukrainian orphans.
- On June 6, Belarusian comedians Slava Kamisaranka, Mikhail Illin, and others will give a charity concert in Warsaw. The proceeds will be donated to Ukraine.
- Estonia will resume issuing work visas and residence permits to Belarusians and will also allow citizens of Belarus, who have entered the country on humanitarian grounds, to work in the country, the Estonian government announced. In early April, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya held a visit to Estonia to tackle migration and business issues for Belarusians. Among other things, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya discussed visas and e-Residencies for Belarusians at the meeting with Estonian Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets.
Resistance
- Belarusians distributed letters for Children's Day, telling about the children of political prisoners.
- Residents of Minsk held a picket to honor the memory of Vladimir Krysionak, a Naftan worker, who committed suicide, allegedly because of persecution by the regime.
Sabotage
- The Hajun monitoring project tracked the movements of Russian troops in Belarus for June 1.
- Hajun also reviewed the state propaganda coverage of the war in Ukraine for June 2. Belarusian propagandists portrayed Ukraine as a subject nation which dared to respond to Russia's aggression. In their opinion, Ukraine should not have resisted and should have surrendered from the very beginning.
- The regime's armed forces began to mine the territories bordering Ukraine and Poland.
Awareness campaign
- The Protestnaya Belarus new issue tells about the trashing of Belarusians' apartments by “law enforcement” officers, and May 29, which marks two years since the arrest of Siarhei Tsikhanouski, Mikalai Statkevich and others. Belarusians distribute underground media to counter the regime’s propaganda.
- Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya urged world leaders not to negotiate with dictators: “Doing this will not solve the food crisis. It will give Putin and Lukashenko the confidence to continue their lawless and immoral behavior”.
- The new video by A Country to Live in tells the story of spouses Antonina Konovalova, a campaign activist of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, and Siarhei Yarashevich, administrator of the Army with the People Telegram channel.
- The Honest People initiative compiled a list of YouTube channels for Belarusians to share with their family members and help them understand the truth about the events in Belarus and Ukraine.
- Belarusians launched a new media outlet, KOSKA, to be the voice of Belarusians in the regions.
