Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya had a call with the Italian Committee for Democracy in Belarus. It includes Italian parliamentarians, representatives of Italian trade unions and the local diaspora.
During the call, they discussed a possible speech of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in the European Parliament and her visit to Italy. The committee will assist with organizing the high-level visit.
The Italian Parliament will discuss the possibility of the convening of a meeting on Belarus. The speakers said that an important and painful topic for Italy is the inhuman attitude towards COVID-19 patients in Belarus and that infected people who are not provided with assistance are intentionally placed in cells. The Committee is ready to raise this topic and, in every possible way, strengthen solidarity with Belarusians the world over. The Committee also expressed its willingness to help the Belarusian independent trade unions.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya called on Italy to take more firm action on sanctions and a more coordinated position of Italy and the EU with the new US administration on the Belarusian issue.
