Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin in Dublin. She spoke about the recent politically motivated court sentences in Belarus and mass repressions, the work of the United Transitional Cabinet and democratic forces, and the importance of supporting Belarusian volunteers and fighters in Ukraine.
During the meeting, Mr. Martin and Ms. Tsikhanouskaya discussed:
- Simplification of visa and migration procedures for Belarusians. Tsikhanouskaya suggested that Belarusians should be allowed to visit Ireland with a British visa.
- Support for cultural projects and initiatives, residencies for Belarusian cultural figures.
- Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's participation in the UN General Assembly this fall, and a potential event focusing on Belarus.
- The international campaign to prevent the stationing of nuclear weapons in Belarus.
- Support for human rights initiatives and the families of the repressed, as well as rehabilitation of political prisoners coming out of prison.
