“What happened four years ago changed both our country and us. I remember that incredible energy during the street rallies. We all believed that a change would come soon. It seemed that any moment now, the dictatorship would collapse, and we would be able to build the country we had long dreamed of and fought for.
Some say that for Belarusians, silence is not equal to consent. It means that we have bided our time and are preparing for a new moment, and that moment will surely come.
To Belarusians inside the country, I want to thank you for your courage and patience. I am not asking you to take risks; now is not the time. Now is the time to protect yourselves. I also want to address Belarusians abroad. While open action is impossible inside the country, we must work on everything outside. It is crucial to strengthen our Belarusian community.
Let’s do all we can to bring down this wall, along with the entire inhumane system. For this, we need to work with allies, strengthen our connections, inspire and be inspired. Remember that what matters the most is the people — it is us. Let’s care for and support each other. Together, we are capable of anything and will definitely finish what we started in 2020”.
