Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and the United Transitional Cabinet Representative for the Transit of Power Pavel Latushka met today with Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya invited the Minister to form an international coalition in support of a democratic and independent Belarus and develop a hands-on strategy for resolving the Belarusian crisis and defending its independence.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and Pavel Latushka also suggested that the Minister consider bringing Lukashenka's regime and its accomplices to justice for repressions against Belarusians and complicity in the war against Ukraine.
They discussed possible actions that the International Labor Organization could take against the regime for repressions against workers and the trade union movement, as well as measures to prevent the regime’s membership in the UN Security Council (next year it is Belarus' turn to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council; Slovenia is challenging it). The parties also discussed Belarus' participation in the activities of the Lublin Triangle, which includes Poland, Lithuania, and Ukraine.
In addition to Ms. Tsikhanouskaya and Mr. Latushka’s meeting, Valery Kavaleuski, the United Transitional Cabinet Representative for Foreign Affairs, met with representatives of the Foreign Ministry to discuss alternative documents for Belarusians who have fled repression and cannot obtain or restore their Belarusian documents.
