Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “I have followed our marathon until its very last minute. Together, we raised 574,306 euros to help political prisoners and their families.
Within a week, the Supervisory Council, led by the United Transitional Cabinet Representative Volha Harbunova, will distribute the funds among 13 initiatives and foundations. The organizations will have two months to send assistance to political prisoners and their families. Finally, in November, we will see a public report.
Thank you to everyone who made donations. Thank you to every activist, politician, human rights defender, and artist who participated in the marathon. Many thanks to all journalists and independent Belarusian media who rallied around one goal. And, of course, let's take a moment to thank Volha Harbunova and her team for organizing such an initiative, which is important for all of us.
Through this marathon, we have regained faith in our ability to unite as Belarusians and help each other wherever we are. Through our collective efforts in the marathon, we have proven to the world that we care about the people held captive by the regime.
Dear Belarusians, there is one thing we should remember – there is no need for a reason or a special date to help each other. Solidarity and mutual care have always been our strength. And what they give us all is so pleasing and inspiring. I never forget to say that I believe in Belarusians. And I invite you, my dear ones, to always have faith in each other.
