    May 15, 2023

Today Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya attended the Copenhagen Democracy Summit, where she delivered an address as a keynote speaker on the situation in Belarus and the geopolitical risks of nuclear weapons deployment, as well as the situation with political prisoners.

She called for being resolute in opposing the deployment of nuclear weapons and developing a strategy for resolving the Belarusian crisis. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya pointed out that the fates of Belarus and Ukraine are intertwined, as both countries are fighting for freedom and independence. They need international support.

On the margins of the summit, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with the summit organizer Anders Rasmussen, former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss, and Speaker of the Danish Parliament Søren Gade to discuss the situation with political prisoners in Belarus and internships for Belarusians. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya called them to join the Day of Solidarity with Political Prisoners on 21 May.
