Results of the Belarusian Anti-War Movement for the week of May 30 – June 5

Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus' regime.    

Here is an overview of the Movement for the week of May 30 – June 5.

Support for Ukrainians and Belarusians

• Yuliya Yukhno, activist of the association of Belarusians in Italy, spoke at the XIX Congresso confederale della CISL. Yuliya spoke about Belarus and Belarusians, their struggle for the freedom of the country and assistance to Ukraine.
• Belarusians held an action of solidarity with political prisoners at the Champions League final.
• Pavel Mikhalok, son of the frontman of the Lyapis Trubetskoy Belarusian band, helps restore Ukrainian cities. 
• National leader of Belarus Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya recorded an open letter to her imprisoned husband Siarhei Tsikhanouski.
• Representatives of the Christian Vision initiative spoke at the German Katholikentag to tell about the challenges that Belarusian churches and Christians face in view of Russian aggression against Ukraine and how Christians in Belarus oppose the war.
• Belarusians of the ŻYVI Foundation delivered humanitarian aid to the Donetsk front, site of heavy fighting.
• Estonia will resume issuing work visas and residence permits to Belarusians and will also allow citizens of Belarus, who have entered the country on humanitarian grounds, to work in the country, the Estonian government announced. In early April, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya held a visit to Estonia to tackle migration and business issues for Belarusians.
• Belarusians of Czechia donated drawing books, colored pencils, felt-tip pens, paints, balls, and toys to Ukrainian orphans.
• Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya had talks with President of Moldova Maia Sandu. They discussed the risks of escalation of the war, the need for decisive action by the international community to support Ukraine, and the work of Belarusian companies in Moldova. 
• Belarusians delivered a batch of medicines to help women in Ukraine.
• Volunteers of the DAR Humanitarian Aid Center and Pavel Latushka gave gifts to all adults and children from Ukrainian and Belarusian families currently living in A Country to Live in Foundation shelter.
• Belarusians of the Prague Support Team, Czechia, sent 20 helmet covers and 20 pouches for individual first-aid kits to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
• The BYSOL Foundation recapped its assistance to Ukrainians for 100 days of war. It has raised more than 524 thousand euros, and already donated 375 thousand.
• Belarusians of the UK donated a vehicle to the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment.
• Belarusians held rallies to support Ukraine and political prisoners and protest against the war in London, Bydgoszcz, Warsaw, Wroclaw, Bialystok, Krakow, Batumi, and Vilnius.

Resistance

• The partisans of Kastsiukouka picketed with an anti-war verse.
• Belarusians distributed stickers in support of Ukraine in their cities and towns.
• Minsk residents painted national flags in their districts.
• Residents of Barauliany protested against the regime.
• Activists of Kalodzishchy held a picket to support Belarusian military volunteers in Ukraine.
• Minsk residents at a partisan action supported Maryia Uspenskaya, widow of Andrei Zeltsar killed in a shootout with a KGB officer.
• Belarusians held a picket to honor the memory of Vladimir Krysionak, a Naftan worker, who committed suicide, allegedly because of persecution by the regime.

Awareness campaign

• The Protestnaya Belarus new issue tells about the trashing of Belarusians' apartments by “law enforcement” officers, and May 29, which marks two years since the arrest of Siarhei Tsikhanouski, Mikalai Statkevich and others. Belarusians distribute underground media to counter the regime’s propaganda.
• BYPOL, a union of former law enforcers, released an investigation revealing the names of the regime's security officers involved in the repression, who fled to the EU.
• The new issue of Chestnaja Gazeta underground outlet discusses economic issues, huge inflation, and wages and pensions, which are declining for the fifth month in a row. Belarusians distribute underground press to counter the regime's propaganda.
• The Honest People initiative explained why Belarusians need to limit their relatives’ watching of TV: this may save both their family relationship and mind.
• The Belarusski Vestnik new issue tells about real terrorists who seized power in Belarus by force, how the regime turns workers into slaves, and more. Belarusians distribute underground press to share honest information with those who do not have access to free media.
