On August 10, the regime transferred Siarhei Tsikhanouski to a prison regime for 3 years, deeming that the high-security penal colony was not a strong enough punishment for him. On August 18, exactly on his birthday, Siarhei was transferred to the prison and immediately placed in an isolation cell – that was the regime's “Happy Birthday” wish to Siarhei. Now he cannot use his belongings, is forced to sleep on bare planks without a mattress or bed linen, and is not allowed to purchase food and basic necessities. In the punitive isolation cell, Siarhei is also banned from receiving parcels and, worst of all, receiving and sending letters. But that does not mean we should not write them.
They are trying to break Siarhei and do everything to make Belarusians forget about their heroes, but that will not happen. We must keep writing letters to make the regime see that there are so many of us. As most letters do not reach Siarhei, his mother rented a post office box to hand over all the letters to Siarhei later.
