  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya completed her visit to Estonia. Highlights

    Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya made her first working visit to Estonia on January 21-22.

    • At meetings with the President of Estonia, the Prime Minister and other representatives of the government, Tsikhanouskaya called for support for the expansion of sanctions, the possibility of initiating cases in Estonia under universal jurisdiction and nationwide vaccination of Belarusians with the help of the EU.
    • The Estonian government has announced its willingness to cooperate with the Cabinet of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on economic and digital reforms, the development of the IT sector. In particular, they discussed organizing a conference or a platform to exchange experience in the creation of electronic government, land, customs, and tax reforms.
    • Estonia intends to support educational and media projects, initiatives related to Belarus, in the amount of 1 million euros.
    • Tsikhanouskaya spoke at an online meeting of the UN Security Council members on media freedom in Belarus.
    • Tsikhanouskaya met with the Belarusian diaspora in Estonia and conveyed her idea of establishing a Belarusian monument in Tallinn to the Estonian government.
    • The Minister of Foreign Affairs presented Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya with a state award — the Cross of Merit, nothing her contribution to the fight for freedom of Belarus.
    • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with Nadezhda Zelenkova, the wife of a businessman and political prisoner Aliaksandr Vasilevich. He has been imprisoned since August. During this time, his second daughter was born.
    • Estonians supported Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's proposal to join the Day of Solidarity with Belarus on February 7, which will mark six months since the 2020 presidential elections and the beginning of peaceful protests in Belarus.
